Study in Canada

Study work permit              

As a student with a valid study permit, you may work without a work permit on the campus of the publicly funded post-secondary institution at which you are enrolled on a full-time basis. Graduate or research work completed at facilities associated with the institution, such as hospitals, meet the definition of on-campus, and a work permit is NOT required, provided that the study permit bears no term or condition which prohibits such employment. Students at private institutions authorized to confer degrees may also work part-time on-campus without a work permit.

Living Cost in CANADA 

Citizenship and Immigration Canada requires proof that the student has sufficient money available. If the institution provides a cost of living estimate, the immigration officer will generally follow it. In the absence of a cost of living estimate, the immigration officer will require evidence of $10,000 to cover 12 months living expenses for a single student. This amount includes food, accommodation, transportation, medical insurance, books, clothing and sundries. These are minimum estimates. Tuition and other student fees are not included in this amount.

The St Lawrence drains the Great Lakes and flows into the Gulf of St Lawrence. The Saskatchewan flows into Lake Winnipeg and the Nelson flows from Lake Winnipeg into Hudson Bay. The Athabasca, Peace, Slave, and Mackenzie Rivers merge and flow north into the Arctic Ocean. The Fraser and the Columbia rivers both flow west into the Pacific Ocean.

VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURES

VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURES 

Applicants should apply at the consular section of the American Embassy any working day, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 and 10:00 AM.

Documents required are:

• Valid Passport
• One Passport size photograph
• A Non-immigrant Visa Application (DS-160) to be filled online.
• Form I-20 executed by the authorizing official of institution concerned, signed by the applicant.
• Evidence of financial ability to cover the costs of the education and maintenance involved
• Visa fee to be paid in Indian Rupees by Bank Draft or Cash at designated HDFC Bank outlets in your city

When to apply:

An applicant may apply for a student Visa not earlier than 90 days before the registration date specified on the FORM I-20. If the registration date is already passed or the applicant cannot reasonably expect to arrive at the school by the registration date, the applicant should obtain an amended I-20 or a letter of extension from the issuing institution stating by what date the applicant may arrive.

After the Completed application forms along with the documents are submitted;

In most cases, the visa will be issued within a few hours or days of the submission of the application. In some instances, the process may take longer depending on the time of year, consular caseload or other factors.

If your application is denied, you should ask the Consular Officer for a "written denial decision." This will provide you with the official reason for your visa denial.
